Business Coach / Business Owner / Entrepreneur / NCAA Football Official
I bring decades of experience to my role as a business coach. As both the founder of a successful business and as an NCAA football official, I've learned over the years that successful business and sports teams have a lot in common:
- Measured leadership under pressure.
- A well-thought-out game plan.
- Optimal operations.
- Strategic execution of tasks and campaigns.
- The right talent.
These attributes can mean the difference between victory and defeat.
On the field, I learned:
- How to quickly manage conflict.
- How to enforce structure without ego.
- How to command respect without losing my composure.
- How to keep teams focused when emotions run high.
In business, these same principles help leaders:
- Manage under pressure.
- Make clearer decisions.
- Build accountability.
- Run disciplined and optimal organizations.
After years of being a successful entrepreneur, in spite of the ups and downs that come with owning a business, I wanted to share my knowledge and experience with business owners and executives like you.
I know firsthand what you're thinking: Transforming and elevating your business on your own is no easy feat. However, with my 1:1 mentoring, focused on business transformation techniques, I can help you create a growth strategy that leads to substantial success - even in a challenging business environment.
I also know firsthand that there is no better win than when a client overcomes a difficult challenge and reaches that sought-after goal of newfound success and peace of mind. The kind of win that you can also enjoy.
Rebuilding a 44-Year Family Business
In the winter of 2022, Gus - an electrical contractor in Bergen County, New Jersey - suddenly found himself responsible for something much bigger than a job. After his father passed, he inherited the family business - a company that had been operating successfully for 44 years.
The business had solid foundations: a 7,500-square-foot yard, a 4,000-square-foot building, a fleet of four vehicles, and a team of eight to ten employees. At the time Gus took over, the company was generating approximately $1.8 million in annual revenue.
But running a business and inheriting one are two very different things.
Over the next two years, Gus did his best to keep things together. However, the reality of managing operations, finances, employees, and customers all at once began to take its toll. Without prior experience running the company, mistakes were inevitable.
Sales declined steadily, eventually dropping to just under $1.2 million, representing a $600,000 decrease in revenue from where the company had been when Gus stepped in.
The financial pressure quickly spread throughout the business. Bills began piling up. Payroll became inconsistent. Tax obligations and health insurance payments became difficult to manage. Employee morale dropped as uncertainty grew.
Like many owners trying to save their company, Gus made himself the last priority. He often delayed paying himself, sometimes holding his own paycheck for 30 to 60 days just to make sure his employees and vendors were covered.
By the fall of 2023, Gus feared the unthinkable - that the family business his father built over four decades might not survive.
That's when he reached out to M2 Business Coaching Group for help.
When Gus and I began working together, the first step was not motivation or strategy - it was clarity.
We started with several in-depth consultations to fully understand the situation and develop a structured rescue plan with a realistic timeline. From there, we began weekly coaching sessions to implement the plan step by step.
The first major decision was to bring in a forensic accountant.
Before making operational changes, we needed to understand the financial truth of the business: where the money was coming from, where it was going, and where inefficiencies were hiding.
Together, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the company, including:
- A detailed analysis of cash flow and spending
- Tracking money in versus money out
- Reviewing employee roles and performance
- Creating clear job descriptions and responsibilities
- Identifying internal strengths and weaknesses
- Evaluating customer relationships and project profitability
- Studying leadership and communication structures
- Implementing cost-cutting measures
- Analyzing the existing business model
- Improving operational efficiency
In many ways, the company underwent a full management reset.
We restructured operations, clarified leadership roles, established measurable goals, and implemented new strategies designed to stabilize and then grow the business.
As these changes began to take hold, the impact became clear.
Costs became controlled. Accountability improved across the team. Customer relationships strengthened. Operations ran more efficiently.
Most importantly, Gus began to transition from simply reacting to problems to leading the business with a clear plan.
By the late summer of 2024, the company's sales had climbed to $2 million, which not only showed a recovery from the earlier decline but a surpassing of its previous performance.
What started as a crisis became a transformation.
Gus didn't just save his father's business: He rebuilt it with stronger systems, clearer leadership, and a more sustainable business model.
Stories like this are a reminder that struggling businesses often don't need to close. They need clarity, structure, and the right guidance at the right time.
With the right strategy and disciplined execution, even a company on the brink can find its way back to growth.
